Representative democracy isn't what its been marketed as: "educated populace chooses representatives to make decisions for them." It's closer to: "uneducated populace serves as a weak check on excesses of two dueling ruling classes." The vast majority of people interested in politics are not interested in truth, just fuel for overthrowing the political party they despise and they seek out that fuel wherever it can be found.
