Show HN: Building a new form of shooting sport

Hi Everyone,

I've been working on a new kind of shooting sport, and would love for you to have a look.

I'm calling it Crossfire (for now). It has no physical projectiles and doesn't look like the real thing, so it's legal to play everywhere. It uses virtual projectiles, but, unlike laser tag, players don't need to wear receivers, it isn't sensitive to sunlight, and it has a range of about 1500 yards.

This first version is very adaptable. There are no rules, so you can play any kind of game you like, in any place, over any distance you like. The only rule is: If you get hit, you're out. Hits are all confirmed by SMS, so cheating is less of a problem. I'm working on many more features on the software side.

I hope you like it!

I like the idea that the phone is what notifies a player if they have been hit. This means the game can be played anywhere and the game can be played at all times!

However actually having a gun shaped object as the main instrument to play the game might cause issue.

Also, if you have any ideas about where I can tell more people about this, do let me know. It wasn't until today that I realized I had no idea where to launch!

Cool idea but why SMS? Couldn’t you create an app and then avoid paying the telco fees for notifications?
