Mullvad VPN Now Unavailable from the Google Play Store in North America

App can be found again on the Google Play Store if VPN'ing to Europe or other locations outside of North America. Still available as an .apk off the Mullvad website or through F-Droid.

I hate geo-locked apps. There are some apps I bought years ago which have since geo-locked their app and it's only available in Asia. No way to re-download this app, and seemingly no way to spoof my geolocation in Play Store or Apple's App Store, as in, using a VPN to tunnel to Asia and grab the app. The stores assign you a country based on the IP you registered with, in my case a European IP.

Just contacted their customer support, they've been trying to contact Google about it. This happened last night.

While it may not be as convenient, note that you can use plain wireguard with Mullvad.

As mentioned in the post, you can still get the app from F-droid or off of their website as an apk.

This move however reinforces the clear importance of having an OS that allows apps to be installed from outside of the 1st party App Store.
