>At On Deck, we believe technology is the best mechanism we have to solve complex societal problems. Climate, affordable housing, access to food, the rise of AI, education and low-cost transportation are all issues that startups are best suited to bring their technological solutions to the mass market.

The companies listed in the sidebar are actually pretty great, at least in concept and in what they are trying to do. But they are great because they are very focused on a specific market/niche with a solvable problem. But we've already seen when startup companies attack these large problems and they always backfire because you can't tackle these fundamental societal issues through the free market.

Startup for low-cost transportation? Like Uber? Yeah that's been going well.

Rise of AI? And Sam Altman is deeply committed to safety.

Most of the reasons why these issues exist in the first place is because capital upholds it. If you want to fix the world, be a politician or a good neighbor.
