The 'President' is a temporary elected office, during which there is plenty of necessary access to all manner of secure materials. When no longer in that elected position there is zero need for continued access to those materials.

Likewise, those secure materials have some very specific handling protocols for access. ALL of which were completely ignored by Trump.

The notion of the 'deep state' is a boogeyman used to scare weak minds.

Why should past access determine current access?

Legally that's nonsense. Trump, like everyone who has access to classified material has legal obligations. As a citizen, I'm deeply offended by this whole affair. Trump could easily have avoided it by following rules he was paid to follow, and swore to follow.
