Johnson believes himself to be a great leader. Nothing so far supports that idea. He confuses good publicity with doing a useful job. He probably personifies the modern politician.
For non-locals the suspension was assumed to be a given once Johnson received the preliminary report and decided to resign. The length of the suspension suggested is the committee clearly stating that Johnson did not just lie to parliament but continued to lie to the committee and any investigation. The consequences this is having on the running civil war within the Conservative party is also worth noting. Sunak is using this as a way to sideline Johnson supporters and they (and Johnson) are fighting back while Labour and the LibDems just sit back and watch.
Given the fact that there will be another general election in the next year at a minimum this will be a useful to observe as something of an exemplar to see what happens as various Trump crimes are prosecuted. It is not quite the same since the Tory party is currently in control of government, but the impact of scandal-related internecine warfare in the internet era will be amusing to watch.

> Johnson, the committee says, deliberately misled Parliament.
> Let’s be blunt: they are saying he lied.
> Had he still been an MP, a suggested suspension of 10 days would have been enough to potentially prompt a by election.
> They suggested 90 days. 90. Wow.
> And that’s not the end of it.
> They say he misled the committee, impugned the committee and was “complicit in the campaign of abuse and attempted intimidation of the Committee.”
