To be fair, unsupervised porn access isn’t great on young people, speaking from personal experience. I don’t think sex would necessarily be as damaging as porn (assuming condoms are used)
I had to throw my VPN on to see this, PornHub in Virginia now shows a message by Cherie Deville against age verification as it's currently being enforced.
This is impressive! I didn’t realize Pornhub even had a paramilitary wing, let alone one this effective. Hopefully the national guard will be able to handle the situation!
There are plenty of adults who want to access these sites but will never upload a govt ID to one.
I could do some promos for VPNs, should I affiliate with one? Create a new service? Whitelabel from another service?
I already imagine other ways to increase revenue while doing it.
probably not a ton. NoVA and a few other areas like Norfolk are wealthy because of tech and the military, and they'll just use VPNs. Rural VA still believes the Earth is 6000 years old and will embrace the new law.
So, Utah and Virginia want their residents to surrender their private informations to shaddy websites and Louisiana is disposed to itself provides these informations.
On a more optimistic note, this is a painful (but relatively harmless) reminder to Virginians to participate in elections and elect better officials.
Unfortunately, people vote out of anger more often than they vote out of gratitude. Something low-stakes like this going wrong is going to ultimately increase engagement without any lasting damage. Yes, it's a slippery slope, but Virginia isn't slipping rapidly down it (yet).

Since DDG suggested searching for “arkansas age of consent” when I typed in “arkansas age verification”, I had to check:

So, it’s legal to have sex with 15 year olds there, but you can’t show them porn till they turn 18.

I think it should be "PornHub blocks access FOR the entire state of Virginia". Or maybe "from", but definitely not "to".

At least, Pornhub doesn't block whole countries.
