Do whatever you want, but DO NOT put space before punctuation marks. With the exception of space before smileys that are substituting punctuation.

It's funny because in French, you are meant to put a space between punctuation marks if and only if they contain two elements.

So you put a space before :, ;, «, !, ? etc but not before ., ,, ..., etc

And I find it wonderful!
