The difference is Dijkstra’s interactions with the other people who worked with were limited to one day per week. He had the other days for sustained focus.
I think Newport is more interested in how he worked than where.
It might have been less work from home than it appears at first glance. Browsing through the EWDs, he seemed to have been on road trips of various sorts about 8 weeks a year, and those involved more than a day a week of public appearances.
