In this experiment, electrodes were placed directly on brain tissue so an aluminum foil head covering would have to be punctured for this to work. For other electromagnetic sensors, the skin depth of aluminum foil may only provide "protection" above 1 kHz or so. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skin_effect
