To be fair, $2,500 for a hand-knotted Persian rug is actually a great price, unless it was a very small piece. That one anecdote didn't seem too absurd, or at least not at the same level as some of the other data points.

Haha, I had the same thought. Though the rest of the evidence is astoundingly egregious, $5.5m of dirty money to Stanford, gifted from an esteemed law professor.. source intentionally obfuscated.. my god, people are, on average, so stupid.

while token in comparison to most of the items, that amount of money is life-changing for many people.
