ChatGPT replacing human interaction/friendship seems like a stretch (at least for the moment). Seems much more likely that Meta just realizes that these chat apps are going to replace traditional search engines and there's a huge opportunity to unseat Google.

This is happening. I mean, I saw a post on reddit the other day describing the exact thing. Some poor person decided to limit their social interactions to AI because they were frustrated by society (and claimed they didn't have enough money to hang out with real friends).

Not sure at what scale, agree that this is unlikely to significantly affect Meta's bottom line, but the threat is seriously there.
