So SBF is a con-man who realized that it's easy to scam the EA community. All you need to do is learn their language and "pledge" to give away a lot of money. Then the donations will start pouring in.

I guess it's not that different from any other in-group. If you're seen as a trusted member, others will give you the benefit of the doubt as far as they can.
