I was scammed out of a few grand in a moving scam a few years ago over Zelle, via my bank

Does this mean I can get that money back? Who do I talk to/where do I go to do so? My bank? Zelle itself?

Are you able to sue them in small claims court? If not, why not?

You need to prove that you were able to serve them a notice.

Works for businesses or neighbors, sure. But random scammer online--no way.

Absolutely not. The clawback mechanism will work on scales of a few days, weeks perhaps. Retroactive for years? No way in hell.

Yes, it would be a disaster for a payment mechanism where nothing is ever final, and a year after you sold a MacBook to someone for $1500, suddenly that $1500 gets clawed back because someone social engineered Zelle. It would be a useless system if you never know if you are going to keep the money or if it could suddenly disappear one day.
