Ask HN: What's the closest thing to Reddit for software developers?

2 points| whitfieldsdad | 2 years ago

I'm looking to learn more about different topics in the field that I work in - currently agents, microservices, breach and attack simulation, cyber threat intelligence, vulnerability management, and vulnerability intelligence - among other things, and, don't really know where to go to get better at this type of thing in a community setting.

I work alone, and, it sucks, and, I'd like to find like-minded folks who work on the same types of problems.

These days, are my options mostly HN, Slack, Discord, or, Reddit?

I find HN gives me a stream of information across a broad range of topics.

When I want to dig deeper, I "research", i.e. lots of search engine (incl Bing) queries, reading pertinent blogs and forums. Except in the most superficial sense, I have given up being a generalist.

As a generalist, it's a mind-numbing amount of work in 2023
