You can look at the financials - They're both public (before New Relic was sold in any case). Datadog spends more on R&D and less on Sales & Marketing than New Relic (43% or so of Rev on R&D / 28% on Sales for DDOG vs 28% on R&D and 34% on Sales for NEWR).
