I worked for a little while at a culinary school. It was a good school--the students left pretty well prepared for work in a restaurant kitchen. But it was expensive. It cost as much as a year at a private university. And the food business is notoriously low pay. While I wouldn't say there's no place for for-profit trade schools, I would say that we really need to have more support for community colleges and state schools to provide alternatives.
