I found the movement too frustrating, but perhaps my attention span is a bit low.

There are whole genres of games that use procedural generation to build levels. Level building then becomes a meta task of designing tilesets and algorithms. Some games work well with generated levels, some do not. Categorically saying you can skimp and just use noise is a bit absurd.
