During the bombings of Gaza in 2021 I quit my job at an Israeli startup which my company had acquired and transferred me to.
To be fair, I was not happy with the working culture which existed at the startup and I probably would have quit anyway as soon as my visa status would have allowed me. But after the bombings started I couldn’t in goon conscious work for these people.
Before the bombings started they had actually posted a team wide email celebrating Israeli independence in a very hateful way, describing their neighboring countries as “enemies on all sides”, along other militaristic dehumanizing stuff.
When the 2021 bombings started I went on a strike, ceased communications with them and quit soon after. My visa status was a little complected to maneuver but it all worked out in the end. And I’m really glad I wasn’t working for these people a minute longer.
