Probably around when they started selling their data to AI companies. Blocking, or at least aggressively rate-limiting datacenter IP address ranges is a no-brainer at that point, they will want to make it as difficult as possible to scrape their data without paying them.
Just started noticing it about a week ago. As someone else said, it only seems to happen when you're not logged in AND on a VPN. I can still login while on VPN and can still surf Reddit anonymously when not on a VPN.
