I encountered significant resistance at two previous companies (±120 employees and ±4750 employees, respectively) when attempting to implement Pulumi into our technology stack to address issues related to Terraform’s lack of composability. Despite working with teams heavily involved in Go programming, I expected them to happily embrace the technology. Unfortunately, they were reluctant due to Terraform’s dominant position at the time. Although I’ve since transitioned to other fields like ML/AI, my conviction remains that Pulumi could have provided a viable solution for those companies.

We're using it and it's quite good! Not perfect, but not even Terraform is, but in my experience, it's much more enjoyable and powerful then Terraform.

Pulumi's cloud offering to be clear. As far as I know you don't need to use their hosted solution if you don't want to (though maybe that's changed?)

Still true! DIY backends are still and always will be an option.
