Aside from defining consciousness as an immaterial awareness, what exactly is the physical world composed of? The Michelson–Morley experiment proved that there is no luminiferous aether permeating the quantum vacuum. What we call physical is just fields in a vacuum; there is no substance to anything. Maybe consciousness is the vacuum and fields are its contents?
