In case they would both have been riding bicycles, I doubt Mr Shawn Bradley would have been so unfortunate.
Might sound like nitpicking, but in places actually designed for multi-modal traffic and not just for cars these accidents are very rare.

The sheriff said that there were no witnesses to the incident nor any indication that a vehicle was involved.
