Does HN anticipate 'run for fun' becomes 'work for good'? In that the idea of putting yourself through physical and mental toil; investing in time, tools, gear, travel; effectively making a lifestyle around the personal development that comes from running will also happen to work.

Feels to me like many anticipate the possibility of a welfare state created by AI job loss will push people to scale back their financial needs to be able to fill their time with meaning. Will all work start to look like NGOs (modest compensation, local impact, ethical alignment, ala 'barn-raising')?
