What happens in peacetime is low funding and stagnant military leadership.

If things ramp up, you’ll see something akin to what happened around WW2 or Ukraine more recently. “Peacetime” officers will rapidly be replaced, and the funding faucet will turn on. I’m not saying this is ideally things should operate, but it tends to be what happens. I am hoping it doesn’t.
