I usually just look for a half-assed summary and then form my opinion based on that

from HN Guidelines:

  Please don't comment on whether someone read an article. "Did you even read the article? It mentions that" can be shortened to "The article mentions that".
I think this rule contributes to people not reading. One should be shamed for not reading an article they comment on, and more importantly, see others shamed for not reading it.

EDIT: It's unfortunate that the article is on such a self-promoting website, as well as soliciting upvotes, and as a result died, because I do think this is a discussion worth having.
