The article also quotes Mullenweg saying, "We’ve seen a huge boost in businesses". Anyone know if that's true business? I'm thinking it's the business Automattic stole from WP Engine when they took their ACF plugin and cut off WPEngine.

He also said that he was using the situation to downsize his business. “we can serve our customers better, just more efficiently… I can see a point where Automattic reaches $1bn of revenue with fewer people than we have today.”

He used the situation to downsize the business, he just didn't realize his strategy forced out the people worth keeping.

Bit of a leopards-eating-faces situation there, no?

No, leopards eating faces is about being the victim of a policy you support (but thought would only affect other people).

It's karma for being a hypocrite, but it's not every instance of karma, hypocrisy, or consequences.
