Show HN: I am building a payments app to shop from social media

Hey HN,

I'm building a payment solution that lets customers buy directly from social media without leaving platforms like Instagram, Facebook, etc. So why do we all need this? There are millions of small and medium businesses and brands that can't establish an online presence, and most of them regularly use social media to post about their products.

I want to help these businesses. Instagram and Facebook have shopping features, but only for a few brands, and they are not available in many regions like India. India has the world's second most active social media users and millions of businesses trying to acquire customers using social media. I want users and buyers to be able to shop directly from posts without leaving the app. I want my payment model on these platforms to create more convenience for customers and reduce business costs.

So, if someone who has worked at Facebook, Instagram, or any other company has valuable advice for me, please share.

How can I make this happen?

Careful with posting the same thing over and over again. It can lead to insta-deading future submissions.

Also, to be on topic: as long as "meta pay" exists, your chances are unfortunately slim, unless you leapfrog its features somehow.

Extra note: I'm a bit hazy on the details, and I'm not a TikTok user, but I'm 99% sure that this exists there, to buy stuff directly from the app, related to the currently watched video with paid promo (though someone with more knowledge might fix me on this)

Well, I know about metapay, Instagram shopping, and Tiktok shop, but these are not available in India and many other countries. I just wanted to help small businesses to make their online presence and drive sales. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

The reason most social media doesn't have Payment baked in isn't that its new, but that Apple and Google have VERY strict ideas what kind of transactions are allowed in Apps and which not.

Other than that. The closest I've seen this idea in reality, processed by a third party and not the platform itself are tipping bots on X.
