Is Netflix deliberately dumbing down TV so people can watch while scrolling?

Looking forward to when an AI James Lipton reads the classics on Netflix. No script, no actor, no crew, no need to look at the screen and the works are in the public domain.

I think this has more to do with the user option existing to simply or annotate the dialogue than rewriting the script. It's like GPT-summaries.

I am rather old. Could someone explain what the point of that is?

I have friends who can't even watch a movie without using their phone the whole time. I find it pathetic and childish, but it's also annoying because the only reason we're watching a movie together is for the shared experience.
