So did this change at the US agency level? Or is this preemptive?

> "President Donald Trump signed an executive order for the name change in January, and the change entered the federal naming database, the Geographic Names Information System, this week."

Temporary federal change until the next president signs an executive order un-doing it.

It changed at the US agency level.

This is Apple appeasing Trump. They'll change it back if another branch of government successfully challenges the change.

Apple has made the business decision that this petty thing will appease Trump, and that appeasing him will help their bottom line. Gross.

This is Apple following a federal name change. There are actual "gross" things being done to appease Trump by others; this is not one of them. If it were it would have been done in January when the order was signed, not this week when it hit the naming database.
