As a Chicagoan, I agree with this fully. The people here are very smart and fully capable, but those with the money force their team's hands to make bad decisions. Acquisition is the ultimate goal, not creating value.
VC's make me unnaturally angry because I've seen them ruin some truly wonderful things.
