US drops website wording on not supporting Taiwan independence

If China can publicly declare that they are not going to follow the treaties around the handover of Hong Kong, why should anyone respect their bizarre claims over Taiwan or Tibet or Xinjiang? The official position of America and the EU should be to support the independence of all these regions. It is the only stance that makes sense for free and democratic countries.

Wow. I didn’t expect this. I agree with this in principal. But there must be some unintended consequences I am not thinking about.
