Miraculously relatively large parts of the Internet and the HN servers survives the first few salvos. Furious discussion erupts on HN, only to be silenced 20 minutes later by three random nobodies flagging the post.

This is just the warmup to letting Putin off sanctions. This administration is bought and paid for, and for a depressingly cheap sum.

It really seems like some version of Russia's 'Foundations of Geopolitics' playbook is being pitched to this administration, likely Russia telling Trump that if the US gives Europe to Russia then the US can take Canada and Greenland or some other fart-huffing pipe dream.

One thing to keep in mind, is that the US narrative that EU is helpless and can't defend itself, is quite false.

Europe GDP >>>> Russia GDP. When you combine EU armies, you get an airforce larger and more modern than Russia, same for troops. We also got nukes. If a war between Europe (including UK here) and Russia erupts, Russia would loose pretty quickly. That would take some leadership and united front from Europe, but in case of a war, I don't doubt it would happen.
