Ask HN: I`m newcommer in Canada and almost no response for job vacancies

Hi everyone, I hope you're doing well! I wanted to ask for some advice on the best way to secure a job in Canada as a Backend Software Developer. I've been sending out my CV for the past few months but have received very few responses. I would really appreciate any insights or suggestions on what I might improve. I would strongly recommend joining all technical meetups in Toronto, like TechTO and others. Go to meetup dot com website and see what is available in Toronto area. Another events website worth checking might be eventbrite dot com. Go to those events, meet people, strike conversations. It is a lot of fun, sometimes free drinks and pizza, and it will definitely put you face-to-face with people who are IT professionals, and some may be hiring. Also, do not ignore recruiting agencies. Randstad.ca used to be one of the best for IT talent. Good luck in your job search!

currently i`m in Vancouver, in your own opinion does it have big difference vs Toronto. Should I try there?

It's a tough market right now everywhere. In Canada, it has always been difficult, there is not much opportunity. Unless you know someone, you're going to have a tough time. Just apply for everything and hope something hits.....good luck...
