Why is this bad for America? Because about 25% of GDP can be directly tied to this leadership role. A withdrawn and isolated and friendless America is also a less prosperous and less safe America.
Personally --- I blame failure to recognize the above on our poor education system. What our schools failed to teach is about to be learned the hard way.
