Jason Ordendorff's talk [1] was probably the first time I truly grokked the concept of unsafe in Rust. The core idea behind unsafe in Rust is not to provide an escape from the guarantees provided by rust. It's to isolate the places where you have no choice but to break the guarantees and rigorously code/test the boundaries there so that anything wrapping the unsafe code can still provide the guarantees.[1]: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTo2u13lVcQ
