I heard git now can use SHA256, but is a conversion needed to get to SHA256. Plus how will that work with git* remote sites that are probably still on SHA1.
Will check to see where GOT is in regards to its hash
OpenBSD still officially uses CVS for version control, so I think this is vying to be a potential modern replacement. The BSDs tend to be rather averse to the GPL, so Git itself is unlikely to be a replacement.
