Why oh why is it that the pull of clickbait is so strong, even at bbc.com, that the word "dissuasion" does not get used? This is a bit criminal as many influencers and shills are then painting the reasonable people working to ensure a war is not possible because it is disssuaded, as being the unreasonable ones who want violence.

I’m sorry, but our President and his team are idiots for letting this progress as it has. The United States should be out there reassuring stability and being extremely clear with Russia the consequences of its actions. Instead there is no plan. Just a bizarre thumbing-of-the-nose at allies and a cadre of advisors and officials who are clearly in over their heads. Wild that we are apparently okay with our leadership behaving like this.
