I just looked: I had my first license of Devonthink in 2008.
I organized all my teaching files in DT. Then I got a Scansnap and went mostly paperless with everythink.
The OCR was/is quite good and it got a kind of auto-file feature. Based on content it showed you the most likely folders to file the file. A great time safer - it really works when you have a semi-established structure with some files in it.
This is something that I have high hopes for: I hand a messy pile of files to locale AI to make sense of it and keep it organized.
As long as I don't get this Devonthink has been the second-best thing to this vision for 17 years.
