> A company spokesperson indicated that Corleo is a long-term vision, with a potential market release by 2050.

The video looks all cgi. Headline bait.

nmstoker|11 months ago

Absolutely. This is a flight of fantasy. Just being able to imagine something doesn't really cut it for concept items any more - you've got to have something vaguely functional you can demonstrate before it's worth seeking external attention.

This is just CGI of an idea somebody had, no part of this exists yet. Its no different than if some random grad student made a video of a flying car concept that they thought of while binging old sci-fi.

Many of the comments are getting this wrong. This video is CGI-generated. However, a prototype exists but all it can reportedly do is stand up and balance itself at present.

Ah, sounds like it's just as far along as Tesla's robotaxi then!

"Hydrogen powered..." Yeesh.

observationist|11 months ago

Yeehaw! That's one spectacular failure mode.

> The company has confirmed the use of a 150cc hydrogen motor that generates electricity to drive the robot’s four legs.

Is hydrogen a better way to store electricity than just batteries? This seems awfully roundabout.

My dreams of a real-life Giddyup Buttercup are finally coming true…in 25 years. Hydrogen powered? Seems about as realistic as a Fallout-style nuke-powered one.

outer_web|11 months ago

You could always get a hay-powered one.

The Chevaline! It's probably possible to build The Primer, and the John Zaibatsu doesn't seem very outlandish too.

But guys, that book wasn't a manual.

This is the world that I want to live in. Where I can gallop on a robotic horse and drink juice which heals my tumour but come in different colors.

boznz|11 months ago

Forget the flying car. I want one!

uberdru|11 months ago

Me too! Much rather have herds of these than fleets of cybertaxis.

treetalker|11 months ago

Should go into production around the same time that the Primer does.

zimlu|11 months ago

I can see this evolving into a sport like the moto gp

patrickhogan1|11 months ago

Hydrogen powered? Where do you refuel it.

Isamu|11 months ago

You ride to the sun.

lifestyleguru|10 months ago

Boil some water and pour 2/3 of it into the tank.

kazinator|11 months ago

Jumps shark at hydrogen.

vrighter|10 months ago

Cos a hydrogen engine is the best way to generate electricity. Given that the entire vehicle is around the same size as the fuel tank in a pickup truck, and hydrogen's very low volumetric energy density.

Make the thing, then try to sell it, ffs.

more_corn|11 months ago

Hydrogen is bullshit.
