I was really surprised how easy it was to set up Square to simply receive tap-to-pay payments on my phone. I ran an incredibly busy after-school cake sale, maybe 100 transactions in twenty minutes? It was pretty great. It just felt unusual to hold out an upside-down phone to request payment.

For a small establishment that's looking to keep down the upfront costs, it's absolutely simple to just use a phone for POS transactions.
