Anecdotally, more academics I know are on Twitter than BlueSky or Mastodon. But a large fraction do have active accounts on BlueSky or Mastodon, and some have moved entirely. (At least some probably have an account that I’m not aware of. Some, like me, also have no social media presence.)
I haven’t seen any dead Bluesky or Mastodon accounts, even from those who have active Twitters, so I suspect that most of the people who did move off Twitter haven’t rejoined.
