i think in some countries residents can make their own charging station public (and earn some money with it). This should be probed in more countries.

I don't think there is any law prohibiting this in the USA.

But this does not overcome the chicken and egg problem. Before residents will invest the time and money to build a charging station, there must be sufficient incentive for them to do so.

Without more EVs, people won't build charging stations. Without more charging stations, people won't buy more EVs.
