I wonder if LLMs and Gen AI represent a shift similar to the invention of the tractor a century ago. Initially, both technologies struggled to find their most effective applications, despite grand promises of transformative productivity. It took tractors several decades to become truly mainstream. Perhaps the same pattern will unfold with LLMs and AI. The difference this time is that companies are investing enormous amounts of capital in preparation for that inevitable moment of widespread adoption.
