I guess many of us have pet-projects (computer based I mean), I personally do. I tend to do 0.5 to 1 hour of pet project per day, starting at 7:45. Then I do my job then the evening is for the family and, some times in week, infrequently, a bit of the evening goes to the pet project too. But sometimes, my pet project eats much of my energy during the day too :-( What about your work/family/pet-project balance ?
