There's an immigration checkpoint near my house. I've had to present my ID. It took all of 5 minutes and then I moved on with my life. The hysterical response to all this is ridiculous. When you get a hotel in Europe, they take a copy of your passport and track you. Why do people think every other country is different than what we are doing? In fact, we already have the most liberal immigration laws in the entire world, not even debatable. We let in more legal immigrants every year than the rest of the world combined. If you can't come here legally and you commit crimes, I have no problem with deporting them. Why would I fight to keep more criminals here when they have no right to be here? I don't understand the game democrats are playing at. I'd love to see liberals go to another country and realize most other countries are openly racist to a degree they wouldn't even comprehend. The real world is far from a cosmopolitan leftist utopia.

There's a very real possibility now that if you have the wrong physical attributes, encounter the wrong federal agent, or (in the near future) are insufficiently loyal as deemed by some unaccountable bureaucrat, that it may not take five minutes, but instead quite a long time, when at that checkpoint you are instead arbitrarily and illegally detained, whisked away to some holding camp several states away, and held without access to counsel or due process for some indeterminate length of time. Draconian immigration enforcement is currently used as an excuse to habituate people like you to arbitrary inspection and force. You're going to miss the rule of law when it's gone, so now would be a great time to stop being obtuse with this left-right culture nonsense and instead support the protection of all of the people's constitutional rights.

Ok, well you are only saying this because you are scared of being whisked away. These agents and bureaucrats are fair people, especially compared to Alex Petti.

If they aren't fair, then they will gain experience over the years and eventually become good.

Now consider my attributes: I look Chinese, I will encounter agents throughout my life, and I am a free thinker (loyal only to the white in red-white-and-blue). What changes about the world if I get whisked away, and why shouldn't I sacrifice myself for the greater Good?

The law is gone for many when unenforced and also not gone for many. I am exhausted when repeating this, but law is not mathematical, it is meta-physical and Gone with the Wind, bringing us back to a romantic time of order when resources where plentiful, order was stable, yet mobility was hopeful, in the eyes of many. How harsh would it be to take that away from millions of Americans.

Yet think about how selfish your thinking is. Do you really care about the law? Or are you worried that you may be targeted next, and unwilling to handle even a tiny bit of sacrifice that millions of Americans have endured for years?

Well said. How many more Americans have to die before these fanboys realize the topic here has very little to do with immigration? TDS, indeed.
