and that’s somehow okay while you’re driving? i didn’t realize there was a “uhh but if you drop your phone it’s okay to cause a crash” clause in the statutes.

Of course not. I was simply reacting to the comments that he kept his accelerator on the gas pedal meaning he intended to beat/run the light.

Reaching down to grab your phone is stupid and clearly negligent but quite different than making the decision to intentionally run a light.
