This is where the real leverage is. I run numbered phases in CLAUDE.md with strict validation rules per phase — every phase must produce testable output before moving on. Tight loops catch architectural issues that planning alone won't. You can have a perfect plan and still discover your data model is wrong after phase 1. The discipline isn't in the plan, it's in the gates between phases.
