If you mean why do I respond to A but not B, it's usually just that I saw A but didn't see B. We don't come close to seeing everything that gets posted to HN—there's far too much. If you see a post that ought to have been moderated but hasn't been, you can help by flagging it or emailing us at [e-mail] [1].

That's certainly a cliché, and it's hard to see how repetition of tropes fits with the intellectual curiosity that we're optimizing for (or trying to!) [2]. Curiosity withers under repetition and fries under indignation [3].

I think, though, that the issue with a political cliché is rather different than posting that someone "doesn't look human".
