Hell, even my 10 inch tablet has a 2560x1600 resolution and Japan Display displayed a 7 inch panel with that resolution in November 2012 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2yGsWT9wfck). Why do we still have 13 inch laptops with 1280x800 or desktop monitors with 23+ inches with only FullHD when a $400 tablet can have this kind of screen?
